Educational Programs

The locally-led Dixie Soil and Water Conservation District sponsor a number of programs that serve the communities of Dixie County. Through community support and fundraising efforts, the district is working to build the number of services we are able to offer. In addition to technical support provided through the district to landowners, the district also offers a variety of annual programs designed in efforts to engage and educate youth in conservation practices of our natural resources. Programs include the regional Envirothon contest, national conservation-themed poster contest, statewide speech contest, and regional to statewide and even nationwide land judging contest for 4H and FFA participants. The District also provides scholarships to eligible seniors graduating from high school within the county. Through available partnerships with knowledgeable local, state, and federal agencies, Dixie County educators have the opportunity to receive free material resources for environmentally-minded educational projects or programs.

These are just some of the educational resources and programs Dixie Soil and Water Conservation District currently sponsors and participates in. If you are interested in free educational materials or volunteering for any of these programs, having a district supervisor work with you on a project, or in offering your support for our work, please contact myswcd@outlook.com for more information.
